Spring Session 2009:
Hosea: A Love Story

A Lecture Series by Richard Benton

The Book of the Prophet Hosea depicts the tumultuous relationship between God and his people as a troubled marriage in stark, realistic terms. Filled with betrayal, repentance, reminiscences, disappointment, and hope, the book describes God's desire to reestablish his close relationship with his people. Israel is left with the terrifying freedom to choose to follow their own way, or to return to the loving arms of their Lord. Though one of the earliest prophets, Hosea presents a view of sin, repentance and God that is fresh to modern ears. Join us for these exciting lectures, as our featured speaker explores the meaning of this important prophetic text. [REGISTER ONLINE] [DOWNLOAD PDF]

"And it shall be like people, like priest"
The Role of the Priest in the Book of Hosea

In chapter 4 of Hosea, the Lord, through his prophet, engages the specific role of the priest in disseminating the knowledge of God. This presentation will offer an in depth examination of Hosea 4 in light of other Old Testament texts, to determine the content of this teaching and its implication for pastoral ministry.
